In response to an oral question, the Moroccan Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, explained that “all the indicators say that the clinical trials have yielded positive results, confirming the safety, efficacy and immunity of the vaccine on which the Kingdom has relied under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI”.
The framework agreement signed to participate in the vaccine trials paves the way for the transfer to Morocco of expertise in the field especially since, “for the first time in history, clinical trials are being conducted on a vaccine against coronavirus,” he said, noting that this vaccine will be produced in Morocco in the near future.
The ministry will organise communication campaigns to raise public awareness about this possible vaccine and that it is “a product similar to previously accredited vaccines,” he continued. It is a vaccine that meets all the safety requirements, since phases I and II have demonstrated its effectiveness.
The minister also said that a high-level Moroccan scientific commission is accompanying the process to develop the expected vaccine from the outset. The Kingdom has been able to occupy an advanced rank in the supply of vaccine against COVID-19, thanks to the initiative and personal involvement of King Mohammed VI, which has fostered a successful participation of Morocco in clinical trials.
