July 12, 2020: Having crossed the Algerian-Tunisian border clandestinely, six migrants infected with the COVID-19 escape from the Chaâmbi camp
Six illegal migrants, subject to compulsory quarantine for contamination to the Coronavirus, escaped on Saturday from the Chaâmbi camping center. National Guard units are currently conducting sweep operations in the area and nearby residential areas to arrest them, according to a security source.
A seventh foreigner was also injured in the hands after jumping from the roof of the Chaâmbi campsite and being taken to the Kasserine regional hospital for first aid. These foreigners smuggled across the border between Algeria and Tunisia.

July 12, 2020: Turkish nationals stranded in Algeria demand repatriation
Stranded in Algeria following the closure of the borders due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, dozens of Turkish nationals, civil servants in Algeria, are demanding repatriation from the Turkish consulate in Algeria.

July 12, 2020: The wilaya of Algiers announces new measures regarding the burial of deaths COVID-19
The Wali of the wilaya of Algiers has given authorization to the Funeral Organization Foundation for cooperation with associations contributing to the organization of special funerals for the deaths of COVID-19 as well as facilitation in order to establish a collective coordination.

July 11, 2020: Details from the Algiers wali regarding measures against COVID-19
The wali of Algiers announced at a press conference this Saturday, July 11, 2020, the various measures taken by the wilaya in the context of the fight against the coronavirus.
In a statement published on its page, the wilaya of Algiers announced that it had mobilized more than 69 buses to transport more than 1,500 health workers.

July 10, 2020: List of the 29 wilayas affected by traffic measures
The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired, Thursday, a working session devoted to examining the development of the health situation in the country in light of the increase in the number of confirmed cases of COVID- 19 in several wilayas.
At the end of this working session, several new measures were announced. Among the measures decided on is the prohibition of car traffic between the 29 wilayas most affected by the coronavirus outbreak and this from tomorrow Friday, for a period of one week.

Aware of the dangerous resurgence of Coronavirus disease in certain localities of the country, the Algerian authorities have decided to confine two municipalities in the wilaya of El Kala, bordering Tunisia.

July 09, 2020: Tipaza – Partial containment in ten municipalities from Friday
Partial confinement will come into effect from Friday, from 1 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, in ten (10) municipalities of the wilaya of Tipaza, and this for a period of ten days, as part of the strengthening of preventive measures against the spread of Coronavirus, said Thursday a statement from the Ministry of the Interior, Local Government and Regional Planning.

July 08, 2020: Fighting the COVID-19 outbreak – Walis come into action
The walis have taken a series of recent measures to try to deal with the coronavirus outbreak, which has affected nearly 17,000 people, officially causing the death of 968 people.
While Algeria continues to record daily contamination records, with 475 new cases of coronavirus on Tuesday and 463 new cases on Monday, Prime Minister Abdelaziz Djerad set the tone on June 30, saying that the laws of the Republic will be enforced “firmly” against those who incite non-compliance with measures to stem the COVID-19 pandemic.

July 08, 2020: Algeria decrees new health containment for the Sétif region
Following an increase in COVID-19 contaminations, the Algerian Ministry of the Interior has decided to restore partial sanitary containment in eighteen communes in the wilaya of Sétif, in northeastern Algeria. It takes effect from Wednesday July 8, 2020 and will apply from 1 p.m. to 5 a.m. for an initial period of fifteen days.

July 07, 2020: The issuance of marriage certificates suspended in several wilayas
Marriage certificates will no longer be issued until further notice in several wilayas. In fact, the walis have sent directives to the presidents of the CPA in order to suspend the issue of marriage certificates. This measure is part of the fight against the spread of coronavirus.

July 07, 2020: A young Malian escaped quarantine after illegally infiltrating Tunisia from Algeria
Security units in Gafsa State and neighboring states are making intense efforts to search for a young Malian African born in 1985 who crossed the Algerian border clandestinely and fled the quarantine center of Metlawi to an unknown destination, according to a security source confirmed by the region’s “Jawhara FM” correspondent.

July 07, 2020: Corona sneaks across the border
In order to flee COVID-19 or to smuggle goods, illegal crossings are activated at the land borders between Tunisia and Algeria. This situation encourages the security authorities of the two countries to intensify surveillance in mountainous areas where smugglers meet.
The contraband infection by local residents or African migrants has become a real concern for Tunisian health authorities, at a time when the official decision to close the border with Algeria continues indefinitely. In recent weeks, illegal immigrants who have crossed these borders through the mountains have increased, and a number of them have been put into compulsory quarantine, while others have managed to escape.
