In view of the deteriorating epidemiological situation, the Ministry of Justice has just announced new preventive measures to be applied in particular in the courts.
In a note addressed on Wednesday, September 16 to the presidents of the courts, judicial institutions and various stakeholders in the justice sector, the Ministry of Justice calls on staff and citizens to wear protective masks inside the courts and to respect physical distance. The department also insists on reducing the number of entrances to the courts and controlling access to them. Only the persons concerned should have access to the courtrooms, advocates the department in its note that includes precautions to be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect employees in the different jurisdictions and judicial institutions. The ministry calls on the presidents of courts to open a single window away from the offices for complaints, requests and other services dedicated to the litigants, reports the agency TAP. During the last period, the different regional directorates of the Ministry performed several sterilization operations in all courts of the Republic. As part of the preparations for the new judicial year 2020/2021, the department has also provided the necessary logistics for holding, if necessary, remote trials. On Tuesday, the Council of the Judiciary had called, in a statement, for the importance of applying the health protocol in order to preserve the health of the personnel of the judicial institutions.
