18 private labs approved for COVID-19 tests, results promised within 24 hours

In response to the worrying development of the epidemic in Morocco, the Ministry of Health, in a circular issued on 12 September, broadened the range of beneficiaries of anti-COVID tests and approved 18 private laboratories which will also be able to carry out serological tests in addition to PCR. The results should be available within 24 hours.

After long weeks of procrastination, the Ministry of Health generalised COVID-19 sampling tests in private laboratories on September 12.

The circular thus establishes the broadening of the spectrum of test beneficiaries, hitherto limited to travellers abroad and within the national territory. Serological tests have been introduced in private laboratories.

As a result, travellers, students, company and government staff can now take samples in private laboratories authorised by the Ministry as well as public laboratories.

18 private laboratories in Casablanca, Mohammedia, El Jadida, Tetouan, Tangier, Fez, Meknes, Rabat, Témara, and Agadir are concerned by this expansion.

The results of the tests will be returned within 24 hours after sampling, indicates the circular.
