Activities in cinemas will resume on Sunday, June 14, 2020, while those in movie complexes are scheduled to resume one month later, on Tuesday, July 14, after a shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a press release published Thursday afternoon, the Ministry of Cultural Affairs calls on “the owners of cinemas to comply with health instructions” in this period of targeted precautionary containment of COVID-19. The same source specifies that the maintenance of the various sanitary provisions in force depends on the evolution of the sanitary situation in the country. This decision was taken in consultation with the National Commission for the Fight against the New Coronavirus at the Ministry of Public Health, the Institute of Occupational Health and Safety (ISST) at the Ministry of Social Affairs and professionals in the film exploitation sector, says the ministry. The resumption of activities in private cultural and artistic institutions is gradually taking place since Monday, May 18, 2020. The various institutions concerned by the resumption are required to comply with the official health restrictions of social distancing and prevention of the COVID-19 pandemic.
